RISK ASSESSMENTS & CONSULTANCY
The Maritime Intelligence Department within Diaplous aims primarily at raising maritime awareness, most importantly in the regions of West Africa, the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia. Our experience in the field of maritime security, as well as our collaboration with international maritime organizations, allows us to always remain at the forefront of maritime security and anti-piracy by providing accurate risk analyses, assessments, and consultancy.
Transit Risk Assessment / Intelligence Reports on-demand
Ιn the regions of the Gulf of Guinea and the Indian Ocean, risk assessments are carried out in line with the Intelligence Cycle model (Planning, Collection, Process, Analysis, Dissemination). The process includes gathering of raw data regarding piracy activity and trends from attacks against transiting vessels, which are carefully processed and analysed at a later stage. Piracy activity is closely and constantly monitored by the Maritime Intelligence Dept, which collects information from both open and closed sources, as well as via contracted intelligence platforms and national maritime authorities/canters.
After processing all gathered data, in cooperation with the assigned operator from the Operations Dept, the Intelligence Team indicates the safest route for each transit, assesses the initial risk level, while proposing measures to reduce the risk and protect both the vessel and the crew onboard.
Intelligence Reports – on demand
Upon request, Diaplous Intelligence Department provides intelligence reports and risk assessments on ports/terminals, particularly in West Africa, Indian Ocean, and Southeast Asia. The main purpose is to outline persisting threats both onshore and offshore, which are likely to affect maritime operations and/or the crew’s safety, while recommending security mitigation measures. The main purpose is to provide security awareness and assist our clients in making the most informed decisions.
Maritime Security (MARSEC) alerts
Diaplous Maritime Intelligence Department, in cooperation with relevant authorities, provides MARSEC alerts, informing our clients of the latest reported incidents, regarding piracy, terrorism, armed robbery and similar activities, around the globe.
Weekly Intelligence Report
Our Intelligence Department prepares and delivers a specialised weekly report, where the latest security threats and developments in the regions of high interest, including West Africa, Middle East and Indian Ocean/Red Sea, as well as Southeast Asia, are presented and analysed.
